The territory

A Journey to the Heart of Life

The Colombian Pacific is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, a territory where lush tropical forest meets the ocean, creating unique ecosystems of extraordinary biological and cultural richness. This region, inhabited mainly by Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities who have developed ways of life deeply connected to nature, offers the conscious traveller a transformative immersion in rhythms, flavours and landscapes that seem to belong to another world.

At Cúspide Travel we have designed experiences that let you connect with the essence of the Colombian Pacific in a respectful and meaningful way, combining the discovery of its natural wonders — forests, mangroves, untouched beaches, whale watching — with genuine encounters with its communities and practices that strengthen your connection with yourself and with the life force present in every corner of this magical territory. Every route is planned to offer not only an outer journey through dreamlike landscapes, but also an inner journey of transformation and expanded awareness.

What you travel through

Essential places

Humpback whale watching on the Colombian Pacific coast

Bahía Málaga and Whale Watching

Between July and October, humpback whales come to the Colombian Pacific to mate and give birth in its warm waters, offering one of the most impressive natural spectacles on the planet. Our experiences include responsible watching trips in small boats guided by local experts, with time devoted not only to observation but also to conscious connection with these magnificent beings. Beyond simple sightings, we offer practices of presence and openness that turn the encounter with the whales into a deeply moving and transformative experience.

Untouched beach in Nuquí with tropical forest behind

Nuquí and Surroundings

A small coastal municipality that serves as the gateway to some of the most beautiful and untouched beaches of the Colombian Pacific, such as Guachalito, Termales, Joví and Coquí. Our experiences include stays in ecolodges harmoniously integrated with their surroundings, walks along forest trails that reveal the region's extraordinary biodiversity, bathing in natural hot springs that emerge just metres from the sea, and moments of contemplation on beaches where the forest literally reaches the shore, creating landscapes of overwhelming beauty that naturally invite presence and deep connection.

Ensenada de Utría with its characteristic horseshoe shape

Ensenada de Utría National Park

A protected area holding an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems, from coral reefs and mangroves to tropical rainforest. Its characteristic horseshoe-shaped inlet, surrounded by lush vegetation, creates a landscape of singular beauty. Our experiences include kayak trips through the mangroves, snorkelling in crystal-clear waters to observe marine life, walks along interpretive trails that reveal the richness of the forest, and meditation and connection practices at places of special energy and beauty within the park, where the life force of nature is felt with particular intensity.

Gorgona Island with its dense tropical forest and white-sand beaches

Gorgona Island National Park

A former prison turned national park, this island 35 km off the coast is a sanctuary of biodiversity with a compelling history. Our experiences include snorkelling and diving in waters of extraordinary marine richness, walks along trails that reveal the diversity of the island forest and the history of the old prison, sightings of endemic species such as the Gorgona bushmaster, and moments of contemplation on deserted beaches where the only sound is the sea and the forest. The island's distinctive energy, shaped by its history and its isolation, creates a perfect context for introspection and reconnection with what matters.

Afro-Colombian Pacific community with its traditional stilt houses

Afro-Colombian Communities

The Colombian Pacific is home to communities of African descent with a rich culture that blends African, Indigenous and European roots, expressed in their music, dance, food and ways of life adapted to the forest-and-coast environment. Our experiences include respectful visits to communities that have decided to share aspects of their culture with visitors, offering the chance to learn about their traditions, take part in everyday activities such as small-scale fishing or gathering mangrove produce, and enjoy cultural expressions such as marimba music, recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Canoe journey through the mangroves of the Colombian Pacific

Sanquianga Mangroves

Sanquianga National Park protects one of the largest and best-preserved mangrove ecosystems on the Colombian Pacific, vital for the reproduction of countless marine species and for the livelihoods of local communities. Our experiences include canoe journeys through the intricate mangrove channels, guided by local experts who reveal the secrets of this unique ecosystem; sightings of birds and other species that live here; and practices of presence and connection that draw on the labyrinthine, enveloping quality of the mangroves to support inner journeys of self-discovery and transformation.

El Almejal beach in Bahía Solano with sea turtles

Bahía Solano and El Almejal

A coastal municipality that serves as a base for exploring some of the most beautiful beaches of the northern Colombian Pacific, such as El Almejal, an important sea turtle nesting site. Our experiences include taking part in turtle conservation programmes, with the chance (in season) to witness the release of hatchlings or even the nesting of adult females; walks along coastal trails that link different beaches and offer spectacular views; sustainable small-scale fishing alongside local fishers; and moments of contemplation on beaches where the force of the Pacific Ocean is felt in full, creating a perfect setting for practices of presence and connection with the element of water.

View of Buenaventura and its bay from the lookout

Buenaventura and Surroundings

The main port of the Colombian Pacific and the gateway to the region, Buenaventura offers an interesting combination of urban life and lush nature in its surroundings. Our experiences include visits to local markets where you can discover the extraordinary variety of seafood and forest produce that characterises Pacific cuisine; trips to nearby communities such as La Bocana or Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, with their beaches and mangroves; and encounters with community projects working on the social and environmental transformation of the region, offering valuable perspectives on resilience, collective creativity and alternative paths to sustainable development.
