The territory

A Journey to the Heights of the Spirit

The Colombian Andes are far more than a mountain system; they are the geographical, cultural and spiritual heart of the country. This range, which splits into three main branches (Eastern, Central and Western), has shaped not only the landscape but also the character of its inhabitants, creating a mosaic of unique ecosystems, ancestral traditions and ways of life adapted to the verticality and diversity of Andean territory.

At Cúspide Travel we have designed experiences that let you connect with the essence of the Colombian Andes, combining the exploration of their natural wonders — páramo moorlands, sacred lakes, cloud forests, volcanoes — with the discovery of living cultures and practices that strengthen your connection with yourself and with the distinctive energy of the mountains. Every route is planned to offer not only an outer journey through dreamlike landscapes, but also an inner journey of transformation and expanded awareness.

What you travel through

Essential places

Snow peaks of El Cocuy National Park

El Cocuy National Park

One of the last glacial regions in Colombia, with peaks above 5,000 metres and landscapes of overwhelming beauty. Our experiences include trekking along authorised trails that reveal the grandeur of this unique ecosystem, with practices of presence and connection in places of extraordinary energy. Every route is designed not only to appreciate the outer beauty of the landscape, but also to support an inner journey inspired by the greatness and serenity of the Andean heights.

Lake Guatavita, a sacred Muisca site

Lake Guatavita

Birthplace of the legend of El Dorado and a sacred site for the Muisca culture, this crater lake at 3,000 metres above sea level offers an experience combining nature, history and spirituality. Our visits include not only the official interpretive route, but also practices of connection with the energy of the place, guided meditations inspired by the Muisca worldview and spaces for silent contemplation of this mirror of water that has inspired myths and rituals for millennia.

The Cocora Valley with its emblematic wax palms

Cocora Valley

Located in the department of Quindío, this dreamlike valley is home to the wax palm, Colombia's national tree, which can reach 60 metres in height. Our experiences include walks along trails through cloud forests and grasslands dotted with these majestic palms, with time set aside for conscious contemplation of the landscape and practices that invite you to connect with the silent wisdom of these centuries-old trees, witnesses to the transformation of the Andean landscape over the ages.

Cobbled streets and colonial architecture of Barichara

Barichara

Considered one of Colombia's most beautiful towns, Barichara keeps its colonial architecture intact, with cobbled streets, rammed-earth houses and flower-filled balconies. Beyond its photogenic beauty, our experiences invite you to discover the soul of the town through encounters with local artisans, workshops in traditional crafts such as stone carving or fique paper, and walks along old royal roads linking it to other towns in the region, such as the Camino a Guane, a restored pre-Hispanic route offering spectacular views of the Chicamocha canyon.

Chingaza páramo with frailejones and lakes

Chingaza National Park

Less than two hours from Bogotá, this park protects one of the most valuable and fragile ecosystems on the planet: the Andean páramo, a water factory and home to emblematic species such as the frailejón, the spectacled bear and the white-tailed deer. Our experiences include guided walks along authorised trails that reveal the magic of this unique ecosystem, with practices of conscious connection to water in its various forms — lakes, peat bogs, springs — and spaces for silent contemplation of landscapes that seem to belong to another world.

The Puracé volcano and surrounding landscape

Puracé National Park

Located in the Colombian Massif — regarded as the country's water star, since the main rivers of Colombia rise there — this park offers volcanic landscapes of extraordinary beauty and energy. Our experiences include the guided ascent of the Puracé volcano (4,646 m), visits to hot springs and waterfalls, and encounters with Kokonuko Indigenous communities who have inhabited this territory for generations and keep alive their sacred relationship with the volcanoes and the hot springs, seen as expressions of the transformative power of Mother Earth.

Main square of Villa de Leyva with its characteristic cobblestones

Villa de Leyva

With its immense cobbled square and perfectly preserved colonial architecture, Villa de Leyva seems suspended in time. But beyond its historic beauty, the region offers a surprising diversity of natural and cultural attractions. Our experiences include visits to palaeontological sites that reveal the region's prehistoric past, when it was covered by an inland sea; visits to local vineyards producing high-altitude wine with artisanal methods; and walks through desert landscapes of singular beauty, with contemplative practices inspired by the timeless quality of these surroundings.

The Suárez River canyon with its imposing rock walls

Suárez River Canyon

Less well known than its neighbour the Chicamocha canyon but equally impressive, this landform offers dramatic scenery and the chance to try adventure sports such as rafting and canyoning. Our experiences combine the adrenaline of these activities with practices of presence and connection that turn physical adventure into an inner journey, using the river as a metaphor for the flow of life and the rock formations as symbols of strength and resilience in the face of challenges.

With what intention

Any of the five experiences can be lived here
